It’s all about detail

Detail, detail. Little things can make a difference, we believe its all about the detail. As campers ourselves we know what we want and like on a campsite and we have transferred this on to the campsite we now own. Although this is our first campsite we have been in the leisure market for nearly 25 years as holiday home owners in Port Isaac, Cornwall, UK. Our cottages are booked consistently throughout the year and the feedback received is that we constantly provide the finishing touches that make all the difference.

When we consider cleanliness we don’t just say that the toilets and showers are clean; we ensure that they are. We check them regularly and clean them up to 4 times a day. We provide the bathroom basics including toilet roll, hand soap and hand dryers (that actually dry your hands!). Our hot showers are included in the price of your stay, so no tokens or coins are required and no pushing the button every 30 seconds to keep the water flowing. Instead just switch it on and spend as long as you like.

Children can get bored easily so to keep active and entertained we have added a box of toys for all the children, young and old, to play with either on the campsite or on the beach. It’s another small thing which can make a difference.

We know how important first impressions are so we aim for the campsite to be clean, tidy and well presented. We meet our guests personally on arrival and we let them know about the village, the area and local attractions. We provide maps and in some cases share some of the places we have been to. For example most of our visitors have been, or will be, visiting the famous Cliffs of Moher which has an excellent reputation and fantastic walks and views. Additionally the drive from the campsite towards Loop Head is stunning, with fantastic views of the Shannon and Atlantic coastlines. If you follow the coast road from Kilkee you’ll see the amazing Kilkee cliffs and outlying islands. The Loop head drive with a stop to see the Loophead light House and the Bridges of Ross are a family day out, all on the Wild Atlantic Way. Another must is dolphin watching and there are plenty of ways to see them.

We have lots of walkers/back packers and cyclists who stay on the campsite, after walking or cycling all day they appreciate a covered seating area, or the ability to move some of the extra tables and chairs on the campsite to their pitch. For our guests who are camping in tents we have the all important ‘Kettle Corner’, a complimentary kettle for making hot drinks. We are happy to put icepacks in the freezer, subject to having enough room. We provide blocks for BBQs and a dedicated metal bin for the safe disposal of used BBQ’s.

We know people forget things so we have essential’spares’. A spare mallet, spare electrical leads that provide power in tents and an electric airbed pump. We also offer to charge laptops and phones free of charge. We can download and print boarding passes and provide wifi free of charge to guests on the campsite who can pick up the connection.

Our washing lines are big enough to dry tents, wetsuits and bedding. We provide a coat hanger to help when drying the wetsuit.
For people who don’t want to wait for the washing to wash or dry, we are happy to move it from the washing machine into the tumble dryer or put it in a basket for you to pick up when you have the time.

We know that little things all add up and we hope you’ll agree when you come to see us at Strandcamping Doonbeg.
